Dr Vanoo Jayasekeran
MBBS MRCP FRACP PhDDr Vanoo Jayasekeran trained to be a doctor at Newcastle University in the North East of England. He completed his Postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and was admitted to the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 2002.
His experiences as a junior doctor fostered his deep interest in the gut in health and illness. This lead to being accepted for Specialist Training in Gastroenterology in Manchester. During this exciting period, he also spent 3 years studying the interconnections between the brain and the gut.
After completing his specialist training in both Gastroenterology and General Medicine in 2010, Dr Jayasekeran arrived in Australia to undertake a Fellowship in Interventional Endoscopy at Fremantle Hospital.
In 2012 he moved to Sydney to undertake a Fellowship in advanced techniques in treating colon polyps at the internationally acclaimed Westmead Hospital.
De Jayasekeran returned to Perth to take up his current position of Consultant Gastroenterologist at Fiona Stanley Hospital. He has been in private practice since 2014 and manages a wide range of gastroenterology and liver conditions.
Dr Fiona Yeaman is a gastroenterologist. She graduated from Monash University in 2013 and completed her postgraduate training in internal medicine at Monash Health in Melbourne. Her specialist training was spread across Monash Health and Peninsula Health in Melbourne and Fiona Stanley Hospital to obtain her fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP) in 2021. She has a special interest in inflammatory bowel diseases and completed a fellowship at the University of Calgary, Canada in 2023 with a particular interest in bowel ultrasound and managing IBD in pregnancy.
Fiona works as a consultant gastroenterologist at Fiona Stanley Hospital and with Gutworks since returning to Australia in August 2023. She is also involved with research and teaching as an adjunct lecturer for medical students at the University of Western Australia (UWA).
Dr Yeaman is a member of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA); European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation (ECCO); American Gastroenterology Association (AGA); Gastroenterology Network of Intestinal Ultrasound (GENIUS); International Bowel Ultrasound Group (IBUS) and accredited with AHPRA, the RACP and the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
